Mary Lee Hahn is a longtime Cybils judge, along with her co-blogger at A Year of Reading, Franki Sibberson. Mary Lee's a teacher, author of Reconsidering Read-Aloud, and, dare I say it, a Kidlitosphere fixture, especially when it comes to Poetry Friday. Fun Fact: her blog has an exhaustive list not only of other great kidlit blogs, but also teacher/librarian blogs, author/illustrator blogs, and other web resources.
This year Mary Lee is a Round 1 judge for Poetry, and earlier this year she reviewed I've Lost My Hippopotamus by inaugural children's poet laureate Jack Prelutsky, illustrated by Jackie Urbanovic. This book primarily consists of funny poems about animals both real and imaginary. As Mary Lee put it in her review:
Check out her full review, plus a couple of sample poems from the book, here.Kids just love Jack Prelutsky!....There are plenty of silly poems, but there are also some that are thoughtful...on a kid level.

Can I see the list of kidlits you provide to encourage a lot of kids to read literature? My sister is a kindergarten teacher so she needs a lot of resources especially book materials to use in her class discussions. She would often tell me in our short talks at home when we come home early that adults should teach kids to read as much as they can as it helps in molding their character and skills.
