REVIEW: March: Book Three

On the occasion of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, it seems like the perfect time to feature March: Book Three, by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and illustrated by Nate Powell. March: Book Three is a finalist in this year’s YA Graphic Novels category, and it continues the compelling story of the civil rights movement as experienced by the iconic Congressman John Lewis. Last year, when the book was a finalist for the 2016 National Book Award for Young People, Round 2 Elementary/Juvenile Nonfiction judge Michelle Leonard reviewed it on her blog, The Winged Pen:

“These books are so much more than history books. They connect deeply into your consciousness, enlighten you about fundamentally what it means to be human, and make you wonder if you are brave enough/smart enough to fight like John Lewis did.”
