REVIEW: Fish Are Not Afraid of Doctors (Maud the Koala)

Welcome to our first featured blogger book review of the 2018 Cybils season! Yay! If you’re new to Cybils, all you have to do to get our book review posts in your inbox is sign up for our Books newsletter (scroll down to the bottom of the blog and the signup window will pop up)–it’s that easy.

Three times a week during the judging period (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) the Cybils blog spotlights a book review from one of our hardworking volunteer judges. Today, our featured review comes from category organizer and Easy Readers/Early Chapter Books Round 1 judge Jennifer Wharton. Jennifer is a librarian who blogs at Jean Little Library as well as for No Flying No Tights and SLJ BeTween. A couple of months ago, she reviewed Easy Reader nominee Fish Are Not Afraid of Doctors (Maud the Koala) by J.E. Morris:

In this story, Maud the koala is waiting to see Dr. Susan. She’s anxious and, looking at the fish in the aquarium, wishes she was a fish who didn’t have to visit the doctor.
