ALA Youth Media Awards

You've no doubt heard by now that the American Library Association's annual Youth Media Award winners were announced yesterday. What you might not have noticed is that a number of our own Cybils finalists were honored during the awards:

  • We Are in a Book by Mo Willems (Easy Readers): Geisel Honor
  • Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi (Fantasy & Science Fiction): Michael L. Printz Award
  • Guardian of the Dead by Karen Healey (Fantasy & Science Fiction): William C. Morris Award finalist
  • A Sick Day for Amos McGee (Fiction Picture Books) by Philip Christian Stead: Caldecott Medal
  • Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein (Fiction Picture Books): Caldecott Honor
  • Yummy by G. Neri, illus. by Randy DuBurke (Graphic Novels): G. Neri won a Coretta Scott King Honor for text
  • Kakapo Rescue (Middle Grade/Young Adult Nonfiction) by Sy Montgomery: Robert F. Sibert Medal
  • The Dark Game by Paul Janeczko (Middle Grade/Young Adult Nonfiction): finalist for YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults
  • Stolen by Lucy Christopher (YA Fiction): Printz Honor
