Poetry is verse written for children and young adults. Beginning in 2022, the poetry category has two awards: one for anthologies and collections; and novels/nonfiction in verse.
The intended audience for nominations in the poetry category can be toddlers, preschoolers, elementary, middle grade, or young adult. Poetry can be illustrated or not.
What belongs in Poetry?
- anthologies or collections written by multiple authors or a single author
- novels/nonfiction in verse
What does not belong in Poetry?
- Single Illustrated Poems: Nominate these in Fiction Picture Books.
- Rhyming Picture Books: Nominate these in Fiction Picture Books.
Poetry does accept eBook nominations.
