Be Book Smart and Help RIF

Here at the Cybils, we love RIF! They put books into the hands of children who need them, and encourage the spread of literacy and love of reading. In fact, the Cybils and RIF go way back:

Once again, Macy's is teaming up with RIF to help raise money for the cause, and that's good news for you. Because if you donate $3 at any Macy's between now and July 31 to help RIF buy a book for a child, you'll get a coupon for $10 off a purchase of $50. How great is that? Give $3, get $10, and give a child a book! The goal this year is to give 1 million books to kids!

How does donating review copies work? I know that publishers don’t want the review copies sold, but I’ve always had to pay for RIF books at my school. Our district provided 75% of the cost and our PTA came up with the rest. The process involved poring over catalogs so I could maximize our order since a lot of what was offered was not very high quality. I always kind of felt like the kids would have been better served by having that money go to the school library.
