REVIEW: Sunny Side Up

Today’s featured review has a little bit of sunshine for you: Sunny Side Up, a graphic novel for elementary and middle grade readers by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm, the team behind Babymouse. Our reviewer is Alex Baugh, a Round 2 judge in Middle Grade Fiction this year. Alex is a former 4th grade teacher and historical fiction enthusiast who blogs at Randomly Reading, as well as at Alex’s Bookshelves (formerly The Children’s War), where she blogs specifically about children and teen books that reflect young people’s experiences of World War II. In her review of Sunny Side Up, she said:

“Though not without many humorous elements, this is a serious book and although it takes place in the 1970s, it easily resonates in today’s world.”
