REVIEW: The Boys in the Boat

Though today’s featured review is a nominee from the YA Nonfiction category, our spotlighted blogger is none other than Karen Yingling, category organizer for Middle Grade Fiction. Her blog, Ms. Yingling Reads, highlights great books for middle schoolers, especially boys. Karen is a middle school librarian as well as a reviewer for School Library Journal and YA Books Central, so you can take her word for it when she gives a book her stamp of approval–like today’s title, a Young Reader’s Adaptation of The Boys in the Boat: The True Story of an American Team’s Epic Journey to Win Gold at the 1936 Olympics by Daniel James Brown:

“Joe’s story is so enthralling that this won’t be as hard to sell to readers who want sports stories, or stories of young people surviving against the odds.”
