ArtMax Travis reviewed Fiction Picture Books nominee Art & Max by David Wiesner earlier this year. Wiesner, who won a Caldecott medal for an earlier book, Flotsam, returns with the story of two artistically inclined lizards, Art and Max. Art is the professional, and Max wants to learn to paint–with some hilarious and near-disastrous results. Says Travis:

Using acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and india ink (all of which figure into the story itself), Wiesner has concocted one of the more uniquely beautiful books of the year.
